Canada Update Round Two

So I've been in Toronto since the beginning of September now and I getting well settled in. The lads in work are keeping me flat out these days with System Center Configuration Manager and Operations Manager and I'm getting around the whole city slowly but surely.
Dang it's getting cold here, everyone keeps warning me about the Canadian winters and in fairness I'm not looking forward to it particularly driving it ...But I'll explain that in a few. It's snowed twice already here it hasn't stuck but it was enough to freeze my ass off and remind me to buy winter clothes...which I still haven't done.
My shipment of stuff from Ireland finally arrived just last week, In fairness I was expecting half of it to be missing but it all came through safe and sound and nothing missing. That now generates more work such as book selves, transformers for all my 220v stuff and general packing away so my apartment doesn't feel like a bomb hit it. Good to have all my cooking gear back I can now finally start cooking for myself again instead of eating out all the time.. and no lads I'm not now 20 stone ready for another stroke :)
Now that I'm getting settled in there's a few thing starting to get on my nerves a bit.. Ranked in order of how much they piss me off are the following
1. Canadian Driving
2. Service charges (TV, Internet)
3. Car Insurance

Canadian driving. Well what can I say.. "They Cant Drive"... I had to take the full driving test here as they wouldn't swap my Irish driver license but to be honest I shouldn't have bothered as it was a joke lasting a grand total of 20 minutes, 1 three point turn, 1 parallel park, 1 block on the highway and 1 block back.... Bang "You've Passed" Excuse Me ?? That's it ...That's the shaggin test.. Eh yes Sir .... WTF .. it's no wonder know one can drive here...it was shaggin awful .. Granted lads I drive fast and have been accused on occasion of doing the odd doggy maneuver but it's nothing like here. Know one gives a crap about anyone else on the roads. They cross multiple lanes, turning signals are an optional extra on cars here and everyone drives as if there is know one else on the roads and they are completely invincible even in the heaviest rain... Honestly I just sit back and finally take my time and watch the stupidity unfold all around me..

Service Charges
We had it in Ireland once ... No regulation and No Competition = Consumer gets shafted. A basic TV package including the 200 channels I don't shaggin want ~ $150 a month.. Stick on the channels I do want ~$200 a month .. Rip off.

Car Insurance
No regulation, No Competition and out of State Driver = Shay gets Shafted.. $250 a month to get a fully comp package like back home but know one even claims because if you do you get even more shafted the next year..

In fairness I suppose these things go with moving to a new country but it doesn't stop me giving out a little..

I'm looking forward to Christmas back home and Joe's wedding. A decent siege of pints will be just the ticket at this stage as I still haven't found any decent pints here yet despite multiple samplings :)

Take care all....

Oh Yeah. That crazy young wan you all gave out to me about has finally been dumped and for good this time...Phew !!
